MEDIA CONVERGENCE?

Which traditional media do you think are bound to disappear or transform due to convergence? Why?
In my opinion traditional media that are most likely to be disappearing or transforming due to convergence are already being seen today. These are things like Newspapers, Magazines and CDs. Such things as newspapers are already having massive competition when it comes to the news being posted on the Internet. Also, CDs are having greater statistics of being bought by the Internet, since such programs as Itunes are used by nearly everybody.
Although all these new transformations are happening, it is very impulsive to say that these types of media will be instantly disappearing or transforming completely. Many people prefer to have the material in hand (like newspapers, magazines or CDs). Most likely, people born in this new century would prefer the advance, but still today there are many that prefer the old fashion styles.
To me, traditional media is strong, and at the same time it is accessible to some change! TV, Cinemas, radio, they are all traditional media with strong bases, and people appreciate them!
Will convergence make London an even more multicultural and creative city?
I do not think convergence will make London an even more multi-cultural or creative city. This is because while things converge, the interaction between people is minimized. The good work is not measured by the diversity of cultures people have but by the creativity they achieve, so London nowadays is already a very multi-cultural and creative city, but Convergence is not really a cause.
To me, London will still be the same, a great creative city with many people from different places, but as technology increases and media converges people will be more focused in some other ways to be creative. And at the same time, this transformation of media could create a massive range of leisure on people from all over the world!
Will convergence make the Creative and Cultural Industries more diverse or will it encourage segregation?
I believe it will basically stay the same in some levels; it can get to be very complicated when it comes to talking about this subject. Convergence in the Creative and Cultural Industries is not likely to encourage segregation because of the industries’ bases. These industries are well established to keep people together working for the principal achievements of creativity at a higher scale. Maybe, the industries will be more diverse because of the new needs of having more and different ways of keeping the development. But once again, this could get to be a very random and complicated subject. For this time, it is my opinion that I have presented making some sense out of the general meaning of convergence in the Creative and Cultural Industries.
